1. Pause Location Sharing in Specific Apps

Many apps, like Google Maps and Find My on iOS, allow you to pause location sharing without notifying others.

  • Google Maps:
    1. Open the Google Maps app.
    2. Tap on your profile picture > Location Sharing.
    3. Select the person you’re sharing with and tap Stop.
  • Find My (iPhone):
    1. Open the Find My app.
    2. Tap your profile at the bottom.
    3. Toggle Share My Location off.

This method does not send a notification, but the other person will notice if they check your location.

2. Use Airplane Mode

  • How It Works:
Turning on Airplane Mode disables all network connections, including GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular data. This effectively stops location sharing temporarily.
  • Steps:
    1. Swipe down from the top of the screen (Android) or the top-right corner (iPhone).
    2. Tap the Airplane Mode icon.

Note: While in Airplane Mode, you won’t receive calls or messages.

3. Turn Off Location Services

Disabling location services can stop all apps from accessing your GPS.

  • For iPhone:
    1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
    2. Toggle Location Services off.
  • For Android:
    1. Go to Settings > Location.
    2. Toggle the switch to off.

Keep in mind, this action might affect apps that rely on GPS.

4. Use a Secondary Device

  • Why It Works:
If you’re sharing your location via a specific device, you can leave that device in a stationary spot and carry another device with you.
  • Steps:
    1. Log into the location-sharing app on another device.
    2. Leave that device in a fixed location.

This ensures your location appears consistent while you’re on the move.

5. Spoof Your Location

Location spoofing uses software to simulate your GPS position.

  • For Android:
    1. Enable Developer Options (Go to Settings > About Phone > Tap Build Number multiple times).
    2. Install a GPS spoofing app like Fake GPS.
    3. Set the fake location in the app.
  • For iPhone:
    1. Use third-party software like iTools on your computer.
    2. Connect your iPhone and set a virtual location.

Be cautious when using spoofing apps, as they might violate terms of service for certain apps.

6. Disable Location Sharing for Specific Contacts

You can stop sharing your location with specific individuals without turning off location services altogether.

  • For iPhone:
    1. Open the Find My app.
    2. Select the contact and tap Stop Sharing My Location.
  • For Android:
    1. Open Google Maps > Location Sharing.
    2. Select the person and tap Stop Sharing.

This might raise suspicion if the person regularly checks your location.

7. Use Low Power Mode

Enabling Low Power Mode may limit background location tracking by apps.

  • For iPhone:
    1. Go to Settings > Battery.
    2. Toggle Low Power Mode on.
  • For Android:
    1. Go to Settings > Battery.
    2. Enable Battery Saver Mode.

8. Log Out of the Tracking App

If you no longer want to share your location with an app, log out of the account used for location sharing.
